# Get a source

> Returns a source (journal, conference or other type of publication) from its identifier.

## Path parameters

**source\_id** `string` *required*

Source identifier. Example: `6aad68732be7843cde64e41b`.

## Query parameters

**view** `string` (default: full)

Level of detail of the response. `full` returns every field. `summary`
returns only the entity's main fields and, for products, patents and
projects, cuts the author list to 10. Any other value returns `400`.

`max`, `page` and `sort` do not apply.

**data** `object`

The requested source.

**properties**

**id** `string`

Source identifier.

**names** `object[]`

Names of the source by data source (`name`, `lang`, `source`, `provenance`).

**abbreviations** `string[]`

Abbreviations of the name.

**type** `string`

Main type of the source (for example `journal`).

**types** `object[]`

Types by data source (`type`, `source`).

**publisher** `object`

Publisher: `id`, `name`, `country_code`.

**languages** `string[]`

Publication languages (ISO 639-1 codes, for example `"EN"`, `"ES"`).

**keywords** `string[]`

Keywords that describe the scope of the source.

**subjects** `object[]`

Subject areas grouped by classification source (LCC, Scimago…).

**topics** `object[]`

OpenAlex topics associated with the source.

**ranking** `object[]`

Classifications of the source: Scimago quartile, h-index, etc. Each entry
includes `rank`, `source`, `from_date`, `to_date` and `order`.

**scimago\_best\_quartile** `string | null`

Best recorded Scimago quartile (for example `"Q1"`).

**apc** `object`

APC information: `charges` (amount), `currency` and `paid`.

**open\_access\_status** `string | null`

Open access status (`diamond`, `gold`, `hybrid`, `closed`…).

**open\_access\_start\_year** `integer | null`

Year since which the source is open access.

**licenses** `object[]`

Publication licenses. Each entry includes `type` (for example
`CC BY`), `url`, and the attributes `BY`, `NC`, `ND`, `SA`.

**copyright** `object`

Copyright policy: `author_retains` (boolean) and `url`.

**waiver** `object`

APC waiver policy: `has_waiver` (boolean) and `url`.

**review\_processes** `string[]`

Types of peer review (for example `"Double anonymous peer review"`).

**plagiarism\_detection** `boolean | null`

Whether the source uses plagiarism detection.

**publication\_time\_weeks** `integer | null`

Average publication time in weeks.

**products\_count** `integer`

Number of products by Colombian authors in this source.

**global\_products\_count** `integer`

Total number of products in the source.

**citations\_count** `object[]`

Citations by data source (`count`, `source`, `provenance`).

**global\_citations\_count** `integer`

Total citations of the source.

**external\_ids** `object[]`

External identifiers: electronic ISSN (`eissn`), print ISSN
(`pissn`), Scimago, OpenAlex, Scienti, among others.

**external\_urls** `object[]`

External links: journal website, open access policy, etc.
(`url`, `source`).

**addresses** `array`

Addresses of the publishing institution.

**relations** `array`

Relations with other entities.

**updated** `object[]`

Last update by data source (`source`, `time` in Unix seconds).

**meta** `object`

Query metadata, with the same shape as in lists: `count` and `size` are `1`,
`page` is `1`, `cursor.next` and `cursor.previous` are `null`, and
`db_response_time_ms` is the database response time.
