# Get a patent

> Returns a patent from its identifier.

## Path parameters

**patent\_id** `string` *required*

Patent identifier. Example: `6ab847915418a51e32855aa6`.

## Query parameters

**view** `string` (default: full)

Level of detail of the response. `full` returns every field. `summary`
returns only the entity's main fields and, for products, patents and
projects, cuts the author list to 10. Any other value returns `400`.

**data** `object`

The requested patent.

**properties**

**id** `string`

Patent identifier.

**title** `string`

Main title.

**titles** `object[]`

Titles by source (`title`, `lang`, `source`, `provenance`).

**language** `string | null`

Language (ISO 639-1 code).

**product\_types** `object[]`

Product types by source (`name`, `source`). For example:
`"Patente de invención"` according to Minciencias.

**types** `object[]`

Types by source with `type`, `level`, `source` and `provenance`.

**ranking** `object[]`

Patent classifications (`rank`, `source`, `date`).

**authors** `object[]`

Authors with their affiliations and external identifiers.

**authors\_count** `integer`

Number of authors.

**groups** `object[]`

Associated research groups (`id`, `name`).

**external\_ids** `object[]`

External identifiers (`id`, `source`, `provenance`).

**external\_urls** `object[]`

External links (`url`, `source`).

**updated** `object[]`

Last update by source (`source`, `time` in Unix seconds).

**meta** `object`

Query metadata, with the same shape as in lists: `count` and `size` are `1`,
`page` is `1`, `cursor.next` and `cursor.previous` are `null`, and
`db_response_time_ms` is the database response time.
