# Affiliations of a geographic entity

> Returns the institutions and research groups associated with a department or city.

## Path parameters

**geo\_type** `string` *required*

Geographic entity type. Allowed values: `state` or `city`.

**geo\_id** `string` *required*

DANE code of the entity. Examples: `05` for Antioquia, `05001` for
Medellín.

## Response

The response is not wrapped in `data`. If the entity doesn't exist, the response is `200` with empty lists.

**institutions** `object[]`

Institutions associated with the entity. Each item contains `id` and `name`.

**groups** `object[]`

Associated research groups. Each item contains `id` and `name`.

**cities** `object[]`

Only with `state`: the department's cities. Each item contains `id` and
`name`.
